AI is evolving at an incredible pace, but will it ever fully replace artists and storytellers?
Definetly not!
In fact, I have 11 reasons why we are going to be needed more than ever before…
1: Human Emotions
AI can generate art that has great technique, but it can’t replicate genuine human emotion. Art and stories resonate with us because they tap into our shared human experiences, vulnerabilities, and aspirations.
They are the light that shine in the uncertainties of life.
2: Originality and the Unexpected
AI relies on existing data and patterns to create (often stolen by real artists).
True artistic genius often lies in breaking the status quo and challenging ideas and believes.
3: The Beauty of Imperfection
AI strives for perfection, but often, the most compelling art and stories are born from imperfection.
A flawed character, an unconventional narrative structure, a brushstroke that goes astray – these can all add depth and authenticity.
4: Context
AI has a big problem with keeping in mind the context of any creation. This is why most narratives created by AI are very disjointed between one another.
(hint: this is also why copywriters wpecialized in long-form content, like me, have a huge advantage nowadays).
5: The Element of Surprise
AI can learn and adapt, but it can’t truly surprise us. IT will always try to give the “most probable” (AKA, more predictable) result.
The ability to subvert expectations, to introduce a plot twist that leaves us thinking – that’s a uniquely human trait.
6: Collaboration and the Creative Spark
Artistic expression often thrives in collaboration, in the exchange of ideas and perspectives. As a theater guy I can tell you… my best work always came from collaborative projects.
AI can be a tool, but it can’t replicate the dynamic energy of human collaboration
7: The Evolution of Art
Art is constantly evolving, pushing boundaries, and redefining itself based on current culture and values.
AI can mimic existing styles, but it can’t anticipate or shape the future of artistic expression.
8: The Personal Touch
Every artist and storyteller brings their unique perspective, their life experiences, and their individual voice to their work. This personal touch is what makes art and stories relatable and meaningful.
And it’s also what allows every single artist to evolve as a person…
9: Laziness VS Excellence
AI is already incentivizing laziness: people with ZERO artistic talent posing like geniuses just because AI produced for them and amazing song.
Real artists always strive for excellence and this is what will always separate us from machines (And people that abuse of their capabilities).
10: The Wrong Type of Theft
Artists have always “stolen” from other artists. Not in an evil way (generally), but as a learning tool.
AI, on the other hand, is built around art made by people who are not recognized or credited.
11: Art is personal growth
We strive for excellence as artists not just to be famous, rich and admired (infact, most of us don’t even care about these things in the first place).
We do it because we want to grow and push our own boundries. And this is the greatest reward anyone can hope for…
