Storytelling and creative writing are amazing skills to have.
But what if you want to earn some money on the side, while you train them?
Here are 7 ideas to boost your skills while starting, potentially, a new business…
1: Freelance Writing, but…
Avoid UpWork, Fiverr or any of those services. Go straight to the kind of customers you want to work for.
The time you waste positioning yourself into the marketplaces is time you can invest in creating relationships with the kind of clients you want.
2: Social Media Manager
Like before, don’t try to be a generic SMM. Find a niche you want to work in and contact directly companies that need more Social Media visibility in that niche.
This will help you find new needs that you can solve with your writing.
3: Blogging
It’s a classic and still works. Plus there are platforms like Hive.Blog and Twitter that pay you for writing (it’s not much, of course, but it’s cumulative).
Blogging regularly is amazing for practice and it gives you a chance to build an audience.
4: E-book Publishing.
Since self publishing is so accessible and saturated, it’s hard to make a living in this field.
But, if you have a unique voice and you work on building an audience, you can make a living from just publishing your books.
5: Script Writer (one of my favorites).
Write scripts for podcasts, youtube videos or speeches. This is the kind of job that takes a lot of practice in the beginning, but it’s very remunerative.
Start looking on YTJobs and Casting Call Club to start in the best way possible.
6: Creative Writing Workshops.
If you are good and experienced, start a local workshop. A lot of people want to improve their writing skills, but often don’t find local courses.
Look at local theater schools or parishes if they want to add this kind of course.
7: Businesses need Writers.
It will take years for AI to really replace masterful writers. If it will ever be able to…
So, don’t worry about AI taking over writing jobs: businesses will always need human writers more than machines.
They just don’t know you yet…
