For over 98 days I’ve been publishign regularly on Twitter, YouTube, TypeShare and Hive.
Yesterday I put all those posts into one doc with a defauls 11 sized font. The result? 184 pages and over 30.769 words. It’s almost a book, and all of this in less than 30 minutes a day.
Here’s a few take aways from this result…
1: Small Realistic Goals.
I’m a busy man. I run my VoxLittera Agency and consult, behind the scenes, one of the biggest marketing companies in Italy.
So, I gave myself only 30 minutes a day to write and publish.
2: Aim for the Golden Hour.
We all have it: a time in the day where we are super productive. At first I wanted to use my Golden Hour for writing and publishing. But I soon realized it’s not always possible.
Aim at it, but accept the occasional mistake
3: Embrace Imperfection.
I’m a grammar nerd. But when you have such a little time frame, typos must be accepted. Limited, but accepted.
Editing and polishing is for when I’ll publish a book.
4: Small Daily Wins.
They have such an impact on your personality. We should always have 3 daily wins:
1. physical win (AKA working out)
2. mental win (for example writing and publishing a small piece of content)
3. spiritual win (praing).
These wins make a huge difference…
5: Harness the Power of Accountability.
I publish these content first and foremost to train my discipline. If I skip a day, I doubt anyone would notice. But I do. So I found a way to keep myself accountable.
Specifically, I’m collecting achievements on Hive and TypeShare: they are meaningless, of course, but they are enough to keep me straight.
6: Prioritize Consistency Over Intensity.
Small daily actions every day bring to big results without straining yourself. On the other hand, when I published my first 10 books 17 years ago, I did it in a short amout of time, burning myself out.
And now, in 90 days, I wrote with little effort what could become a book.
7: Create Systems.
This is how companies scale. And this is how you can use efficiently these 30 minutes. When I write for publishing, I have many little systems in place that help me get my writing out as quickly as possible.
So, in the same 30 minutes, I can focus more on writing.
