How storytelling makes us human and improves relationships

Stories are the glue of our existence.

They connect us, teach us, and shape who we are. They are LITERALLY part of our DNA, as recent studies on the 7th chromosome are demonstrating.

Here are 6 reasons why stories are so important.

1: Empathy Building.

Stories help us see others’ perspectives.

This allows us to see the world, society and the people around us in a complete way.

2: Shared Experiences.

Stories create a sense of belonging.

When we share similar experiences, we feel less alone and more connected to others.

This is what makes smaller, traditional communities stronger than modern societies.

3: Learning and Growth.

Stories teach us about the world, history, and ourselves.

They inspire us to learn, grow, and become better versions of ourselves.

This is what makes them an amazing tool for raising children (and is completely underutilized in modern schools).

4: Preserving Culture.

Stories pass down traditions, values, and knowledge from generation to generation, giving value and appreciation to our cultural heritage.

This is why we must protect our own traditions from modern, woke indoctrinations.

5: Imagination and Creativity.

Stories ignite our imagination, allowing us to explore new worlds and possibilities.

This sparks creativity and innovation.

That’s why people that prefer reading and storytelling games (like TTRPGs) are smarter than the average TV owner, or TikTok user.

6: Healing and Resilience.

Stories help us process difficult emotions and find meaning in suffering.

They inspire hope and resilience.

Most of the effective therapy practices heavily rely on stories.
