In the last few months, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has exploded.
Just like it happened years ago with Social Media, a new ship is setting sail, and everyone wants to get aboard to profit as much as possible.
ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI tools are disrupting the market and changing the future for millions of people, including copywriters.
This means it’s time to evolve or die.
What copywriters used to be
Most people consider copywriters to be article writers, page fillers, and title writers. They are the kind of people who simply provide content, optimize it for S.E.O., and spread the company’s message.
But there are also direct sales copywriters who are more specific. S.E.O. is not their priority, and they write content aimed at converting readers and viewers into customers.
The problem is that AI can, when used correctly, replace both of these roles and create good-quality copy. While the quality may not match that of a professional copywriter, it is still sufficient to justify its incredibly low cost.
What copywriters need to become
Copywriters need to adapt and become more than simple wordsmiths. That’s why today, copywriters are also:
- Conversion experts with the ability to craft emails, scripts for videos, and sales pages that effectively convert individuals into leads, and these leads into buyers;
- Empaths, capable of understanding the deeper needs of the market;
- Researchers, capable of finding complex data and translating it into simple-to-understand messages;
- Strategists, with the ability to comprehend business and market conditions, which enables them to enhance a marketing strategy and tailor each message for optimal outcomes;
- Storytellers that discover stories and tell them in an engaging way;
- Trend analysts who always know what’s going on in the market and can take advantage of every opportunity.
Copywriters shouldn’t be afraid of A.I. For us, this new technology is nothing more than a new competitor.
But knowing this competitor’s strengths and weaknesses allows one to improve, adapt, and create new opportunities.
