Your personal stories matter… here 7+2 reasons why

Your personal stories are more important than you think is unique.

You take them for granted because you have lived through them. But for those who see them from the outside, they can be extremely helpful.

Here are 7 reasons why…

1: Connection

Sharing your stories can create deep connections with others.

You might be surprised how many people relate to your experiences.

For example, the story of my divorce has connected me to a lot of people that, right now, are struggling in their marriage.

2: Healing

Talking about your struggles can be cathartic.

Sharing your pain can lead to healing and personal growth for you and others.

3: Inspiration

Your journey can inspire others.

Overcoming challenges can motivate people to pursue their own dreams and face their own struggles.

4: Learning

Sharing your stories can teach others valuable lessons.

Lessons that you have learned already, and you take them for granted.

Also, telling your stories, will reinforce those lessons for yourself.

5: Perspective

Your story can challenge stereotypes and broaden perspectives.

It can foster understanding and empathy.

It’s also thanks to stories, for example, that I went from being agnostic and “new age” to a Christian.

6: Legacy

Your story is your legacy.

It’s a piece of history that can be passed down to future generations.

I was lucky enough, for example, to be inspired by the life stories of my grandfathers and their brothers, who lived through World War 2.

7: Unique ideas

Your stories can give you unique ideas for your fictional creations.

As many professional writers say “write what you know“.

8: Empowerment

Sharing your story can give you a sense of purpose and empowerment.

It can boost your self-confidence and give your lives a deeper meaning.

Hint: your stories can also be a great fuel for your fictional creations.

9: BONUS – Helps others with loneliness

I struggled a lot in the past with loneliness.

Personal stories of others helped me push from very dark times.

Now I see how the stories I tell are helping others face their own loneliness in a powerful way.
